Lewisian Gneiss is one of the oldest stones in the world, and is only found in isolated spots on the North West Coast of Scotland with the best being found in the Isle of Lewis. It comes in a variety of colours from greys and blacks to greens and reds with quartz and feldspar adding additional features. The stones I use are naturally polished by the pounding of waves and I then lacquer to bring out the depth of colour.
