The card design uses a technique called Suminagashi (marbling ink onto water) to give a background effect of rock formations, as seen in many areas of the island. The chess figures are my interpretation of some of the Lewis chess pieces, designed using CAD (computer aided design), which is printed on top of the marbled paper. The front and back of the chess piece is printed on the relevant side.
