I wanted to showcase these garnets – with their rich deep claret red. They are so joyful and like little rays of hope. The handcrafted sterling silver drops I textured to resemble tree bark, as I wanted these to have a natural, woodland feel. The silver is hallmarked at Edinburgh Assay Office. Finished with sterling silver ear wires. Drop length 3.5cm.
Garnets have long been associated with love and in particular because of garnet’s association with pomegranate seeds, and the mythological tales of Persephone and Hades, garnets have come to stand for the safe return of a friend or loved one.
