About Gilly-B

In 2016 I moved to Shetland, making the journey in my sailing boat to Scalloway where I now live. I rent a studio here, where I run my design and illustration business. My work includes original paper cut art work featuring bold Shetland imagery and these designs are used to create prints and contemporary home wares, such as lamp shades and crockery. I specialised in knitwear design as part of my BA in Textile Design, however it is illustrative design that is now my passion, and that is where most of my energy is directed. I work in a number of different mediums including paint, collage, paper cut and shadow box, often using these designs to print onto fabrics for use in manufacture. I like to sketch from life to sit at the edges where land meets sea, to look at the birds flying overhead and nesting on the cliffs and to watch the boats coming and going. I also work to commission and have produced designs for packaging, cards, book covers, prints  and pieces for private collections.
