About Eddie's Eigg Croft - Wild Bluebells

Based in the Isle of Eigg

We sell Wild Bluebell seeds, harvested from our croft on the Isle of Eigg under licence from the Scottish Government. Bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) flower on Eigg in May, turning our croft an incredible shade of blue and filling the air with their gentle sweet scent. We harvest them by hand in August and September, when their seeds would naturally be shed. You can replicate this by scattering them around the same time, in moist but well-drained soil. Bluebells like dappled shade and take 2 - 4 years to mature. Their distinctive deep blue colour and gorgeous, subtle fragrance are well worth the wait.
